(Demid Golikov, Expert of RECEP for exchange policy)

What will be the effect of the long-term dollar depreciation on the Russian ruble exchange rate and Russia’s balance of payments? At present Russia’s economy is characterized by undervalued real exchange rate of the national currency and high receipts from raw export. Therefore, the long-term dollar depreciation will lead to a decrease of the inflationary pressure on economy which will, in turn, facilitate establishing of the full convertibility of the Russian ruble.
